Systems of cargo inspection and vehicles

Are used to fight against illicit import and export of the goods for the detection of hidden smuggling, including explosives, weapons and drugs. Available equipment with unique features and scanners working in various modes, allowing you to easily to adapt according to changes in operational requirements.

1. Systems inspection of the bottom of the vehicle.

One of the most "favorite" places of explosive are the bottom of the vehicle, that allows to work with a variety of ways to undermine and get maximum results with the minimum power and, therefore, the sizes. This is due to technical and constructional features of transport - a complex of metal, electronics, organic and synthetic materials. Significant role is played here and opportunity to quickly place explosive during the parking outside the territory of the object of potential attacks.

Thus, the regular inspection of vehicles – is the actual requirement of the modern world. However, it conflicts with the need to minimize downtime (regular inspection using various hand-held mirrors requires stopping the machine and takes a lot of time). Therefore, in recent years it has been developed automated systems and automatic visual inspection of the bottom of the some of which does not even require stopping the vehicle.

The main element of any complex inspection of the bottom is a special scanner that is mounted either directly in the roadbed (the most popular stationary version) or mounted and fixed over the pavement (mobile version). The scanner consists of the mechanical construction that allows withstanding the weight of the vehicle, backlight system, which automatically activated at the inspection, and also movable optical-electronic unit of the digital camera.

The scanner of stationary model of a video system is mounted directly in a roadbed – in the metal pallet with a protective cover. The steel basis of a mobile video system is a metal platform with the ramps established on a roadbed.

Output signals from the scanner are served in a digital form to a special server guard post and displayed on a computer monitor. In the case of transport inspection, samples of the bottom of which already exist in database, two images (reference and actual) parallel displayed on the screen and compared. The comparison process, depending on the system, is carried out either visually by an operator or by the program that uses machine visual technology.

2. Technology 3D-video analysis.

In the case of automatic inspection systems of the bottom the most important issue directly affecting the consumer characteristics of the systems are the applied technologies of obtaining and comparing the image of the bottom. As a rule, the standard algorithms for high-resolution images - they allow to compare the two fairly high quality flat bottom cut. However, professional criminals in most cases try to lay the explosive devices so that those minimally protrudes outwardly (e.g., on the top surface of the muffler), while on the flat cut them it is practically not visible.

Video analysis technology help to cope with this problem, which allows restoring the three-dimensional image on several flat cuts.

Registration number of a passing car is read out by the separate camera, and the procedure of automatic comparison takes no more than 2-3 seconds. The system is also included the camera appearance of the vehicle that allows to get full information about the car. It is important to note: the complex can in case of need, if necessary (polluted number, no external lighting, etc.) to find the reference image in the database and to determine the type of vehicle without reading its registration number.

The system recognizes any threatening foreign objects or modifications chassis, allocates them with red outline (Fig. 4) and reproduce a sound signal.

The complex allows to work with the vehicles weighing up to 30 tons (a maximum axle load up to 12 tons) and speed up to 35 km / h during the year. Term of its service through the use of highly durable quality materials and high-tech solutions (climate control for temperature and humidity, drainage and self-cleaning system) is not less than 7 years.

All information received from the scanner is displayed on the remote operator workstation - a software module, which consists of high-brightness monitor with touch screen, placed in a protective casing and combined with specialized computer equipped with a unique software package (Fig. 5).

There is a special modification of the complex for the automatic inspection of the bottom of the railway transport (Fig. 6).

The platform for the scanner system is established between the rails of the track to a depth of 35.5 cm (provides drainage, cable duct or conduit), which allows wagons and locomotives to pass freely over the scanner. Fitting position polycarbonate insulating sheet (Fig. 7).

On the ramp of the backlight inside and outside of the track is 6 rows of powerful LEDs that are configured on the brightness level, which provides optimal work of the scanner.

Opto-mechanical construction of the scanner takes in high-resolution two images of the bottom from two angles (each to 60 degrees.). One image is obtained through the front viewing window of the scanner, and the other - through the back, and in general they allow to construct a virtual three-dimensional image of the bottom. Thus it is possible to see backings even in remote places of wagons and locomotives that are not capable to provide linear inspection system.

The system has two trigger activation: The system has two trigger activation: the first defines approach of the first locomotive, and the second - the end of the passage of each wagon in the lineup.

After the passage of each item of rolling stock the system within a few seconds produces automatic comparison of the new received image with the reference image from the database and displays them on the monitor. If there are on the new image differences (changes in design and backing) from the reference image, the suspected area will be outlined with red circles, signaling to the operator of a potential hazard in addition the system provides alarm sound.

Here is a brief list of unique features of the complex:

  • Vehicle identification only by the form of the bottom
  • Obtaining simultaneously two images at different angles,which allows to make a qualitative single three-dimensional image regardless of vehicle speed.In this image it is very difficult to hide any backings on the bridge, the transverse beams on top of the muffler and in the pockets of the car
  • The possibility of temporary stop of the car when scanning up to 10 with no degradation of image quality
  • The software allows the system to automatically distinguish between different types of vehicles (buses, trucks, SUVs, etc.)
  • The software envisages the "check list" - the possibility to check the license plate of the vehicle if the form does not meet the the bottom of the database (the number rearranged into another car) and notify the operator
  • The scanning system is equipped with a full automatic climate control (control of humidity and temperature), provides the ideal working conditions, regardless of the temperature and humidity of the environment
  • The body of the stationary scanner or mobile scanner ramp made of galvanized steel and contain all the necessary holes sealed cable entry and drainage pipes. The minimum thickness of protective elements - 20 mm. All this provides a significant increase in service life (more than 3 times in comparison with many other systems)
  • Self-cleaning system is made by spraying water after a specified time, or by the signal operator.

3. Inspection systems based on X-ray source with a linear accelerator.

This system provides the penetration of X-rays in cargoes with a very high density. Received as a result high quality images allow to operators to detect the hidden contraband, including weapons, explosives, weapons of mass destruction, drugs and undeclared goods. All systems comply with international standards on radiation safety.
